Join Jeremy and Elizabeth on this exclusive tour of England’s beautiful historical sites, museums, and gardens. Take classes at the Royal School of Needlework, Bloomsbury Group Charleston  and at other inspirational venues.

A fully-guided 10-day tour which will include Royal School of Needlework, Hampton Court Palace, a day in London, Bloomsbury Group Charleston and gardens in Sussex, Woburn Abbey. Included will be needlepoint and embroidery projects, based on the inspirational buildings and gardens visited, and importantly, shopping opportunities in famous London stores. Day 1 – Sunday April 30th, 2017
Guests’ Arrival at London Heathrow Airport.  Meet and Greet shuttle service will be provided to the Mitre Hotel, Hampton Court. This is located on the banks of the River Thames and will be our base for four nights to explore Hampton Court and Central London. Late afternoon welcome drinks and introduction to the tour. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 – Monday May 1st, 2017
After breakfast we will take our coach up to London where we will visit the famous Liberty department store and you will have time to shop. In the afternoon we will take a boat cruise along the River Thames, seeing the famous sites from the river. Afterwards we will either have afternoon tea or dinner in London.

Day 3 – Tuesday May 2nd, 2017
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we will cross the road to the magnificent Tudor Palace of Hampton Court, home of Henry VIII. Here we will visit the world-famous Royal School of Needlework and we will have a tour of the School with its Archives and its long history of Needlework. The tour will be guided by the Principal, Dr. Susan Kay-Williams. There will be a break for lunch, which you will be able to purchase from one of the numerous cafés in the Palace. In the afternoon, we will take the first part of our class with a tutor from the school. The project will be based on inspiration from the Tudor era. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 4 – Wednesday May 3rd, 2017
After breakfast we will once again visit Hampton Court Palace for the second part of our class at the Royal School of Needlework with our tutor. During these two days you will have had an opportunity to shop at the RSN retail outlet. In the afternoon we will take a private guided tour of the Palace to see the amazing tapestries and artwork. Afterwards you will have the opportunity to walk in the formal palace gardens by the River Thames. In the evening we will dine at Mezzet, a wonderful Lebanese restaurant close to the hotel.

Day 5 – Thursday May 4th, 2017
After breakfast we will check out of the Mitre Hotel and board our coach, heading south to the beautiful county of East Sussex, with the English countryside looking at its best in the early spring. Late morning we will arrive at Charleston, which was the home of the famous Bloomsbury Group artist, Vanessa Bell, sister of the writer Virginia Woolf. Here we will be shown by a curator the artistic country retreat and will have chance to walk around the flower-filled English garden, and this will be followed by an informal light lunch. In the afternoon we will visit Berwick Church, where we will see the murals painted by Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant. Late afternoon will check into the quintessentially English Grand Hotel, Eastbourne for 3 nights. Before dinner we will have an informal stitching class followed by welcome drinks and dinner in the magnificent hotel dining room.

Day 6 – Friday May 5th, 2017
After breakfast our coach and driver will take through the beautiful East Sussex countryside to magnificent Sissinghurst Castle, with its famous gardens designed by the writer Vita Sackville-West. There will be an opportunity to have some lunch in the café. In the afternoon we will visit the ancient Cinque Port town of Rye, made famous by the books of E. F. Benson (of Mapp and Lucia fame). Dinner at the Grand Hotel.

Day 7 – Saturday May 6th, 2017
Breakfast at the Grand Hotel. Today you will have the option of a day at leisure in Eastbourne where you can relax and stitch! Or we will take the coach to the nearby seaside city of Brighton, which is a vibrant hub for shopping and you may also take a look at the Brighton Pavillion. Dinner at the Grand Hotel.

Day 8 – Sunday May 7th, 2017
In true English tradition we will have a typical leisurely Sunday start. We will board our coach for a journey of approximately 2 hours 30 minutes to Woburn in the county of Bedford, North West of London. Here we will check into the Woburn Hotel, owned by the Duke and Duchess of Bedford, next door to their estate, Woburn Abbey. In the late afternoon we will have drinks and be introduced to Rosemary Sharman, who will be one of our class tutors for our projects worked on during our stay. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 9 – Monday May 8th, 2017
Breakfast at the hotel will be followed by a visit to Woburn Abbey, a beautiful Palladian Mansion set in parkland with a significant art collection and gardens. We will take a private guided tour of the Stately Home followed by early afternoon tea in the Bedford Rooms. Then one of the gardeners will take us on a tour of the famous gardens designed by Humphrey Repton. In the evening you will be free to have dinner in a local restaurant in picturesque Georgian Woburn or the hotel. (This is the only dinner not included in the tour price).

Day 10 – Tuesday May 9th, 2017
Breakfast at the hotel will be followed by a full day of classes by Rosemary Sharman in the morning and Elizabeth Bozievich in the afternoon. Lunch will be served in the hotel. This will give you an opportunity to work on new projects and have time to catch up on pieces already started while on the tour. In the early evening we will meet to have a farewell drink, followed by dinner. There will then be a short stitching session with Rosemary in the evening, and time to say our good-byes.

Day 11 – Wednesday May 10th, 2017
After breakfast at the hotel, and depending on guests’ individual travel plans, we will proceed by private transfer back to London Heathrow. You are advised not to book return flights before 12 noon on this day. We offer an in-house concierge service if you wish to extend your stay or check into an airport hotel.
