A Tale Of Two Cities Needlepoint Tour of London & Paris – April 24th – May 7th, 2022

Jeremy and Elizabeth have rescheduled the The Tale of Two Cities tour to April 24th of 2022. Jeremy has worked up a new itinerary with some options to extend your stay and go onto Scotland if you wish. Please check back for updates.

Sunday 24th April 2022:

Arrival at the Hilton Garden Inn Terminal 2 London Heathrow by 5pm. Welcome drinks in the Sky Bar which has amazing views of the airport runways. Dinner at the hotel.

(Please note: You can transfer from any arrival terminal at Heathrow directly into the hotel. Passengers arriving at Terminals 2 and 3 can walk to the hotel with ease as the Hilton Garden Inn is in the Airport Central Area. Passengers arriving at Terminals 4 & 5 can take the shuttle bus to Terminal 2.  Jeremy will already be at the hotel and will be there to welcome you. If you plan to arrive the day before, Jeremy can arrange extra nights’ accommodation for you and plan something for you to do before the official tour starts at 5pm.)

Monday 25th April 2022:

After breakfast we will be collected by our luxury bus and drive to the Channel Tunnel . (approx 1.5 hours) . On arrival in France we will continue to Paris and check in at the Novotel  for 3 nights. Dinner at the hotel.

Tuesday 26th April 2022:

Today we will have a full day’s sightseeing in Paris. We will have a great view of the major sights and later on we will confirm which places of interest we will visit, but it will include the Cluny Tapestries with the famous Lady and the Unicorn. Dinner at the hotel.

Wednesday 27th April 2022:

This morning we will return to the Centre of Paris to visit more sites and visit the world-famous Galleries Lafayette. In the afternoon we will take an organized tour with our private guide to some of the famous haberdasheries and take a late afternoon class. Dinner in the City, in a traditional Parisian Brasserie.

Thursday 28th April 2022:

This morning we will check out of the hotel and visit the Palace of Versailles, and afterwards we will drive southwest to the Loire Valley and visit the Royal Chateau de Chambord. Afterwards to Chenonceaux to check in to the Auberge du Bon Laboureur for 2 nights. Dinner at the hotel.

Friday 29th April 2022:

Today we walk from the hotel to the amazing Chateau de Chenonceaux, spanning the River Cher.  Today will be a relaxing day where there will be time to stitch and perhaps a ride out to the pretty town of Amboise on the river Loire, where we can wander its ancient streets with its traditional shops. Dinner at the Hotel.

Saturday 30th April 2022:

After our breakfast we will set off north to Caen in Brittany and take the Ferry to Portsmouth back in the U.K. This afternoon will be a great chance for a stitching class followed by dinner in the first-class restaurant. When we arrive back in the UK, we will transit to the Mitre hotel at Hampton Court.

Sunday 1st May 2022:

Today we will have a morning at leisure. You will have the opportunity to visit the Palace and the Royal School of Needlework shop. Dinner at the Hotel (Please note: The Mitre Hotel has been completely refurbished and has a delightful new Brasserie.)

(Note: New guests will join us today as we have combined the second week of this tour with the first week of our ‘Off the Beaten Track Tour’)

Monday 2nd May 2022:

After breakfast  today we will take a full day’s tour of the sights of London in our coach and will visit the Tower of London and the Crown Jewels. There will also be time for shopping in the legendary department store Liberty. Dinner at Mezzet Restaurant at Hampton Court, which is always great fun.

Tuesday 3rd May 2022:

We will be collected by our luxury Bus and will visit Knole House in the County of Kent, followed by a tour of Sissinghurst Castle Gardens. Then onwards to the seaside town of Eastbourne and check into the famous Grand Hotel for three nights. (Elizabeth’s favorite hotel!). Dinner at the hotel.

Wednesday 4th May 2022:

Today will be an easy day and Elizabeth will hold a class for our ongoing tour needlepoint projects. We will have a light afternoon tea and there will be time for leisure in this classic English seaside town. Dinner at the Hotel.

Thursday 5th May 2022:

After breakfast we will drive to the small city of Canterbury to visit the Cathedral which is a World Heritage Site and the oldest and most important Christian structure in the U.K. There will be time to meander round the medieval lanes,  and we will make a visit to a craft and needlework store. Dinner at the hotel  in Eastbourne.

Friday 6th May 2022:

Today we will leave Eastbourne and drive to South East London to see Red House, the iconic home of William and Jane Morris and the centre of the Pre-Raphaelite Circle. William Morris’s artistic contribution has made a huge impact on needlepoint up to the present day.  After our visit we will proceed to a hotel near to London Heathrow. Dinner at the hotel.

Saturday 7th May 2022:

Transfer to London Heathrow for our guests on the Tale of Two Cities Tour to depart to the USA. The tour will continue as Off the Beaten Path.

En route to Edinburgh we will take a night stop in the North of England, somewhere picturesque and of interest. This has yet to be confirmed.

Double occupancy room: $8,500

A deposit of $3,000 USD is due on sign-up and then you will be invoiced for the remaining payments.
The final payment will be due January 15, 2022.

Price includes all meals apart from lunch. We normally have a big breakfast and then dinner around 7pm. So a sandwich or scone is normally enough when we take a break.

Price also includes all our Needlepoint/Stitching Projects and Airport to Hotel Transfers.
All you need is shopping money!

Price does not include airfare, or alcoholic beverages – drinks must be charged to your room account.

We normally run our Tour with a minimum of 10 people and a maximum of 24.
