Margaret's Lighthouse
by Margaret Azpeitia-Taylor

You can almost smell the salt air when you view this majestic sentinel of the sea. But the fun part is your challenge with creativity. Note the subtle shading, not only in the light house, but also in the sky, the sea and the grassy mound. Realize that you will need to combine individual strands of the threads to make color combinations. You will also need to determine the scale of various stitches. In the same area some diagonal stitches will be worked over 6 threads, some over 4 threads and even some over 2. Refer often to the photo on our front cover for a color guide. Don’t be afraid to let it be your guide and then stitch the piece and shade it as you see it.
