From
the EditorThank you for your response to the editorial on meeting our staff in the last issue. Please meet the rest of our talented staff who create their miracles digitally.
Jennifer Ashley Taylor, our Staff Photographer, designs the bi-monthly covers and provides many of the images for the projects. The collaboration with the editor happened when she was asked to digitally photograph some designs for the premiere issue. Impressed with her images, we asked her to become part of the team. 14,000+ images later, Jennifer is anxious to purchase her fifth generation digital camera. Her photoart is published in national needlework publications. She is a national teacher of Japanese embroidery.
Beth Robertson, our Graphic Artist, is co-author of the books Stitches For Effect, More Stitches For Effect, Even More Stitches For Effect and Thread Thesaurus. She is also co-designer for a new line of computer painted canvases with stitch guides -- Shear Creations -- Just Add Threads. Specializing in the creation of realistic effects with the use of threads, stitches, and embellishments, Beth has published numerous stitch and thread guides for many painted canvas designers. She also teaches locally and nationally. Prior to her needlework career Beth worked in various engineering management positions in radio broadcasting and the telecommunications industries.
Pat Timpanaro, our Webmaster, began stitching in 1973. In 1990 her company, Neon Flamingo Designs, began making her designs available to the public. Pat lives in the Boston area and in 2001 retired from her job as a technical writer for a software company. Now she spends all of her time designing needlework and Web sites which are crisp, clean and easy to navigate. She is active in EGA and ANG and published Honey I Shrunk the Flag in our magazine.
Marianne Frost, our Technical Proofreader, has been doing wonderful things for us since our beginning. Several of her projects have been featured in our magazine and we count on her keen scrutiny and technical expertise. She was raised in Wayne, Pennsylvania, and earned Bachelor and Master degrees at Villanova University. Her mother taught her to stitch and she enjoys working with color and texture. She and her husband live in Collegeville.
Fay Haverly, our scholarly Proofreader, grew up on the island of Maui in Hawaii. She majored in English and Secondary Education in college in Oregon. She taught for many years and had a position as an Administrative Assistant. She did a lot of editing and proofing which makes her so perfect for this job. Fay keeps a needlepoint project going at all times. She says "The obsessive/compulsive in me requires that I finish all projects I start! I love being a small part of this wonderful magazine."
Donna Gotts, our eagle-eyed Proofreader, retired from the University of Michigan and relocated in central Florida which allowed her the time to further her love of stitching. Proofing was a routine part of her job as administrative secretary/office manager during her University career. Spelling was easy for her, and paying attention to detail was just second nature. Her mother and grandmother taught her to stitch but she honed her skills by joining guilds and taking needlework classes.
