It has been eleven years since Marnie Ritter designed the 1990 spring cover issue of Needlepoint Plus, creating the plate "Aurora Borealis." It was one of the most popular of the eighteen spring cover designs that she had stitched for that magazine. Thus, it seemed a natural progression to use this popular concept, updating it for needlepoint now, using new color concepts as well, as threads and patterns.
